A performance where everyone contributed something saw Milton 2nds win by 30 odd runs. Batting first Miltons openers Phil and Bob soaked up the early pressure from the impressive new ball bowlers before both falling in quick succession - Phil 7 and Bob 11. Dave 36 and Vijay 17 added 58 in quick time before Dave was caught behind and Vijays stumps were demolished. Graeme Newton 34 and Ally Crawford 26 not out added 56. Both batting well, taking quick singles and turning twos into threes. After Graeme departed Martin Coston played the most amazing innings. Martin was run out without facing a single ball but both scorers credited Martin with a single - Martin agreed to take his score of one run without facing a single ball well. Kiran entered the fray and hit a quick fire 20 to take Milton to a decent score of 189/6. Kiran and Ally adding 43.
Miltons defense of 189 got off to a good start with Dave Sanderson and Kiran taking an early wicket each, Kiran bowling opening bat Pascal for 8 and Dave S taking the important wicket of Davis for 0. Granta's forth wicket partnership batted well seeing off Dave S and Kirans opening burst. First change bowler Bob Newton took an early wicket to settle his nerves and bowled 10 good overs taking 3 wickets for 40 runs. Martin also bowled well getting a lot of turn off the wicket. At this point the game was well poised with Granta needing 80 odd runs and Milton needing to take 5 wickets. Milton legend Jack Nayar was brought into the attack replacing Martin. Jack bowled 5 tight overs giving nothing away and picking up 1 wicket with a beautifly flighted off spinner which came back through the gate and cleaned up the Granta batsman. Kiran and Dave S came back on and finished off the Granta innings bowling them out for 158. Captain Heath being the last man out for 63. Kiran finished with 3/25 and Dave 3/36.
An impressive performance from everyone involved was only let down by Englands 1 -1 draw with USA.
