09/05/10 - Witcham 1st Vs Milton 2nds Junior cup:-
After an excellent bowling and fielding display Milton 2s bowled Witcham out for 130. Nic Seaman 4/23 and Martin Coston 4/41 bowled well and were supported by some great all round fielding and superb catching inparticular from Dave, Ally and Mark. Nic, opening the bowling, bowled quickly and accurately and was supported well at the other end by Mark who kept things tight. Martin took an over or two to settle down but once into his stride bowled well and was rewarded with 4 wickets, including a ripper which cleaned up dangerman Simon Cooper and a great diving catch by Dave at long off. Milton continued to take wickets, Mark and Bob both chipping in with 1 a piece, and were more than happy chasing 130 to win the game.
From the start of the innings Milton struggled against an accurate bowling attack never really got in a position to win the game and were disappoitingly bowled out for 98. Only Duncan, Ally and Extras reaching double figures. The wicket proved a little tricky as Ian Coston will testify having been hit on the top of the head by a ball which wasn't that short. Batsmen came and went at regular intervals with Martins wicket being the final nail in the Milton coffin.
A disappointing start to the season with Milton 2nds losing a game they really should have won. Captains man of the match - Nic Seaman
Team: Phil B, Duncan S, Graeme N, Nic S, Ally C, Dave C, Ian C, Mark B, Stephen D, Martin C and Bobby N.
