A game that had everything went right down to the last ball of the last over of the day. Having won the toss Dave decided to take advantage of a strong batting line up and asked the opposition to bowl first. Bob and Phil got Milton off to a steady start seeing off a challenging spell of bowling farily well. Bob was first to go caught at slip for a very patient 1 followed by Phil who found some form hitting 21. In came Liam who batted nicely making his 61 look easy before hitting a full toss to mid on. Jez chanced his arm making an entertaining 31 including 3 dropped catches and some typically sweet drives. Graeme 15 and Dave 9 kept the board ticking over before a final flourish from Kiran 27 and a hard hitting 21 not out from Martin saw Milton reach a respectable 200 for 8 off 40 overs.
MIltons openers Dave Sanderson and Rohit took a wicket a piece in the early stages before a long and productive partnership saw Longstowe reach 144 - 2 Lenton 70 and Murden 60 batting well. The last ten overs saw Longstowe require 50 runs with 8 wickets left. Dave Sanderson bowled well picking up a couple of wickets including opener Lenton, and finshed with 3/47. But the star of the bowling display was Pradeep Kumar, struggling with a shoulder injury which restricted him to only bowling 3 overs before drinks, bowled incredibly well and finished with match figures of 9 . 0 . 35 . 4. The game came down to the last over - Longstowe requiring 4 runs to win with 3 wickets left, squeeky bum time.....
Pradeeps first ball removed the dangerous Charter with a great reflex caught and bowled. The next four balls were all dots with the batsman playing and missing each one. The final ball saw 1 run come bring Milton 2s a much deserved, hard fought victory winning by 2 runs.
