Result Milton 83 for 6 wkts in 20 overs Bar Hill 84 for 4 wkts in 18.2 overs Bar Hill away was always going to be a tricky fixture and so it proved, Milton won the toss and batted first on a slow. low pitch, and losing two wkts in the first over did not help the scoring rate. Liam(31 no)and Will(18) managed to get the total to something reasonable. Bar Hill despite losing a early wkt keep the scoring above the required rate, this was helped by Milton dropping three catches, however the bowling was good and Bar Hill generally had to work hard for their runs, the pick of the Bowlers was Will(4 overs,1 wkt for 9 runs). Despite the defeat the team sprit was good, and hopefully we can learn from this game in our remaining fixtures
NCI 22 for 8, Milton 23 for 1. NCI arrved at the Sycamores with only 9 players. They won the toss and decided to bat, unfortunately for them Jacob dismissed their opening batsman with the first delivery of the match. This set the tone for the rest of their innings and they were dismissed for 22 runs in 6.5 overs. Jacob taking 6 wickets for 6 runs in 3 overs and James Drummond taking 2 for 2 in 0.5 overs. Austin and Lewis opened our innings and were going well until a mix-up lead to Austin being run out. Liam came in and after 3.5 overs Lewis scored the winning runs.
First match was a U15 cup fixture against Longstanton U15 at the Sycamores. Result Milton 85 for 9 from 20 overs Longstanton 89 for 6 from 16.1 overs Not a bad workout for the U14s against a more experienced team. There were some good performances from the lads, George 3wkts for 7 runs off 2 overs Jacob 1wkt for 8 runs from 4 overs The fielding was also v.good which made the target of 86 to win a diffcult one,and they made Longstanton battle for every run. Good Luck to Longstanton in the next round.
Longstanton 69 for 10 Milton 70 for 0 The first league fixture was away to Longstaton. Milton won the toss and decided to bowl, which turned out to be a good call on a damp and gloomy evening. With a superb opening spell of bowling from James Linstead and Jacob Mandley the Longstanton batsmen found runs very difficult to come by They finished on 69 all out in 16.2 overs. James Linstead 5 wickets for 13 off 4 overs, Tom Stevens 3 for 8 off 2.2overs. With the rain threatening we quickly started our run chase with Jack Matthews and Liam Dye opening. Jack (46no)smashed the ball to all parts, hitting 9 fours and 1 six, Liam (17no) hitting 3 fours. It was all over in 6 overs, Milton finishing on 70 without loss.
