2006 Season Summary
This page gives a brief summary for all 6 of our teams in the 2006 season.
First XI
In 2006, Milton CC 1st XI competed in CCA Junior League Div 1 N and the CCA Junior Cup. In the league we finished 6th out of 10 teams with 7 wins, 6 losses and 5 games cancelled due to rain. We exited the cup in round 1 to Longstowe.Despite a mid-table finish, we had a slim chance of finishing 2nd going into the final week and won three matches by over 100 runs this year. We had a winning record against the two teams that were promoted to the Senior league.Team spirit was excellent this year and we saw continuing improvement amongst our younger players. Although we have a team capable of winning promotion, we need to improve on our consistency, something that should come with experience.Individual awards this year were awarded to Jay Dann (Best Bowler), Jez Major (Best Batsman), Jon Scott (Player of the Year), Ryan Carey (Young Player of the Year) and Ched Conlon (Best Fielder). (Jez Major)
Second XI
The Second XI played in Junior 2NA in 2006. We narrowly avoided relegation by winning our final game. (Jon Amphlett)
Third XI
The third team struggled in 2006. We were relegated, had a lack of fortune with the weather and suffered with inconsistent batting. (Phil Allen)
Colts U-15s
Over all, a successful year playing in the C league. We only ended up playing 9 games due to cancellations and weather. The team finished second to strong Mildenhall side. (Ian Coston)
Colts U-13s
The team played in C league and won all 8 league games. 3 or 4 players played in the U15s. There were some very surprising results and in summary it was a great season. (Steve Dye)
Colts U-11s
In summary a reasonable season considering the team has struggled in past years. (David May / summary by Steve Dye)
