Milton 233-5 beat Witcham 91 all out by 142 runs
Martin Charlesworth 80 not out, Jez Major 56, Sandeep Mohanraj 34, Scotty 31, Ryan Carey 6-19
On a hot day at the Sycamores Milton\'s batsmen came good and racked up a daunting total which Witcham never looked like threatening.
After Peter Stoehr fell early, Scotty and Jez Major gave Milton a good quick start before Scotty got a shooter and was out for 31.
Then Martin Charlesworth & Jez had a good stand, with Jez leading the way with some typical pull shots as he raced to 56 before getting bowled through the gate by Witcham\'s left arm spinner who was getting significant turn on the dry wicket. Sam Allen perished in similar fashion next ball, but then Sandeep came in and Milton began to rebuild with both Martin and Sandeep finding the boundary regularly as Witcham\'s bowlers and fielder began to become dispirited in the heat.
Sandeep perished with a good catch on the boundary for 34 but Martin pushed on with his 50 coming up with a six into the trees at the Tesco end. Dave Clark came in and batted intelligently as Milton piled on the runs in the final overs with lots of singles and twos to reach 233-5.
Witcham\'s innings never got going after opening bowlers Ryan Carey and Jay Dann bowled with pace and aggression and ripped out the top 4 for just 20. Witcham began to fight back with a decend stand for the 5th wicket but this was ended by a superb catch at midwicket by Dave Clark off a ball which was certainly going for four. After this Witcham collapsed and the only question was whether Ryan could get his fivefer, which he did by efficiantly mopping up Witcham\'s young tail-enders.
